What is ESOL?

ESOL offers free English classes for adults living or working in Fife whose first language is not English.

 

How can ESOL help?  ESOL will help people speak, listen, read and write English. It teaches from Beginner English to English for exams. It can help people to integrate into or feel part of their community, access further education and find a job.

 

How can I join a class?

Before you join a class, please contact us to book an appointment.

We will assess your level of English and discuss your needs and expectations.

 

What happens next?

  2. Attend a short appointment.
  3. We will assess your English level.
  4. We will help you find a suitable class.

 

When can I start?

You can join our groups at any time throughout the year.

 

When does the course finish?

Our courses have no official start or finish date.

You can attend ESOL classes for as long as you need to.

 

Do I need to buy any books?

No, you do not need to buy any course books to study with us.

However, it is useful to bring a notebook and a pen or pencil to class.

 

Can I get a certificate?

If you wish, your teacher can help you prepare for and take Scottish National Qualifications in English.

Learners can also work towards qualifications up to SCQF Level 4.

Qualifications are based on real-life work, study and social situations.
